Bali Photo of the Day ~ Woman with Offerings ~ Tirta Empul Healing Springs

Today we offer you this photo of a intent striking woman carrying her offerings on her head enroute to the temple at Pura Tempak Siring.

I love the contrast of her focused gaze and the unfocused background. She looks quite determined and serious here, but right after this photo was taken, like all Balinese, she broke out into a huge beautiful smile.
Tempak Siring is home to the most sacred healing springs in Bali, Tirta Empul. Balinese Hindus island-wide make pilgrimage to the natural springs to help cure their ailments and gather holy water to bring back to their village for a multitude of purposes.
For much more on the healing springs, the temple and its history, myths and location, you can read Sacred Healing Springs of Titra Empul. Legend and Ceremony in Pictures.

Our Wellness and Yoga Retreats often feature trips to the sacred springs of Tirta Empul and other sacred locations. We can arrange a Malukat ( a special private cleansing ceremony) at the temple and the holy springs lead by a Balinese Hindu Mangku or Pedanda (a traditional healer or high priest). Contact us today to find out about upcoming retreats.
