Can round rooms stimulate creativity, inspiration, comfort and healing? This Bali villa attempts to find out.

Is it true? We don’t know, but we’re going to find out…

Our design team has worked for years to ensure each detail is in harmony with the mission statement of Floating Leaf Eco-Retreat. One such example are the Bali villa bedrooms. You will find that each room is perfectly round. This was done for multiple reasons.

Scientific

Institutions for higher learning such as Harvard Medical School and The Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture in San Diego have researched how a planned environment influences the mind and behavior. Their findings tell us that our brain perceives angles, corners and sharp contours as potential threats or hazards. Conversely, neuroscientists have concluded smooth contours signal the brain to relax. Inspiration, creativity, comfort and healing are all said to increase within rounded architectural forms. Furthermore it is postulated that it also fights against infection and depression as well as reducing cognitive decline.

Environmental ~ Commitment To Green Technology and Sustainability

Round structures use 15 to 30% less floor, wall and roof materials to enclose the same square or rectangular space. Energy efficiency is also increased as improved airflow allows for less consumption to heat and cool circular dwellings. We have dramatically reduced our eco-footprint and created more usable living space simply by eliminating right angles. Passive cooling is also improved, as there is less exterior surface area that comes in contact with the elements. This in turn increases the durability of the structure as well.

villa-bedroom

The villa bedrooms offer the finest in eco-luxury and offer spectacular views on the Indian Ocean and holy Mount Agung volcano.

We’ve tried to take this science a step further by incorporating living green walls and roofs into Floating Leaf. The plants and soil will not only shield the rooms from the Bali heat, they will also capture and benefit from the rainfall and moisture, further saving on energy needs to cool the villa. Deluxe bathroom with soak tub

Luxuriate in your private garden bathroom with high quality organic toiletries, plush towels and modern conveniences.

The spacious villa bedrooms feature custom furniture crafted from eco-friendly materials, great views, en suite bathrooms, air-con, wi-fi and more.

Acoustics ~ for relaxation, meditation and privacy

The gentle curve of the villa bedrooms softens the sounds both inside and outside of the rooms ensuring greater privacy and less distraction. Sound waves are dissipated by the round forms to create a perfect atmosphere for rest and relaxation, meditation and creativity.

Ancestral Wisdom

The tradition of living in rounded dwellings can be traced back to ancient eras and is found in cultures around the world (teepees, yurts, tenemos, etc.). Our ancestors built in accordance to their natural surroundings. Ancient (and modern) places of Buddhist pilgrimage are round stupas that represent love, peace and trust.

Healthy living by design

Mother nature, ancient indigenous wisdom and modern science seem to indicate that round structures can be more comfortable, healthy, and kinder to the environment. Plus, we think, they look great as well. We are interested to hear what you have to say.
