Meet Jenny: Our New Intern

Hey!

My name is Jenny and I am the new intern at Bali Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat . It is my first time in Bali, and I came here a few weeks ago. So far I can say that I really love the relaxed lifestyle of Bali!

I really wanted to come to Bali to learn more about yoga, meditation, nutrition and overall, more about healthy lifestyles. Also, one of my dreams is to learn how to surf, and I cannot imagine a better place for that than Bali. As I come from Finland, I must admit that I was also tempted about the idea of having warm weather and sun all year around.  I find the Balinese culture very interesting, and I cannot wait to learn more about it.

Yes, its a tough job being an intern at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat but Jenny fits right in

I feel very fortunate that I am here on this beautiful island and I got the chance to come to work for Bali Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat The reason I chose to contact Mikaku, and why they stood out from other centers, was the fact that I really liked the their ideology with sustainability and ecological choices. I find it truly amazing that this eco-center is built ecologically, and how all the decisions and choices are made with sustainability in mind. The way how the company gives back to the community and is involved with charity is amazing. Mikaku,

Putu and the rest of the staff gave me such a warm welcome, that I immediately felt comfortable and like home. It is an amazing chance for me to learn about managing such an eco-center, and all the different aspects around it, especially in the fields of marketing. I find it very inspiring how Mikaku and Putu put this place together, and all the effort they put into this place. Learning such valuable things and on the side more about my personal interests makes this internship absolutely perfect for me.

So, the feelings from my first weeks were very positive, and I slowly started adapting more and more. As an attempt to really get into the Balinese culture, I got myself a scooter. First, I was terrified about the traffic (especially when on my first drive I managed to fall ), but after gathering some courage and getting back on my scooter, I got used to the crazy traffic and even crazier driving habits of the locals. Finally, I started to really enjoy driving through the lovely landscapes, and exploring new places. What I also absolutely adore here is the food! You can get such good food for a price that you could not get even one third of a dish back home. Therefore on my first weeks I was mainly focusing on trying new dishes all the time, and finding the best restaurants and street food places.

Friends Yoga and Wellness

As it probably came clear, I have fallen in love with this place, and the list is long about things that I love; the fresh fruits and other fresh ingredients, the Balinese coffee, the extremely friendly and helpful people, the beaches, the incredibly beautiful nature, the weather. I could continue this list forever.

In the upcoming months I am really looking forward to learn more about the culture, work here at the Bali Floating Leaf, practice more yoga, learn how to surf, and overall enjoy life here. Bali, you are amazing!
