The Yoga Sanctuary

Floating Leaf hosts a large, open air yoga studio with expansive views in a warm tropical setting, comfortably nestled along the eastern coast of Bali.

An Inspirational Setting

Used for yoga, mediation, weddings, corporate retreats and other events, the Yoga Sanctuary is a 2000 square foot (186 sq meters) space, designed for cool breezes and panoramic views of the the Indian Ocean, endless rice fields and holy Gunung Agung. Eco Yoga Material & Design

The Yoga Sanctuary makes use of passive cooling, green walls and roofs, sustainable materials and other eco-friendly methods to enrich a deeply natural yoga experience.

Enjoy the feel of your bare feet on our strand-woven bamboo floors. Strand woven bamboo takes the world’s most sustainable material, bamboo, and converts it into a dense, ultra strong material that acts like a hardwood and is designed to last 30-40 years.

Floating Leaf is on the forefront of helping to develop and test new sustainable materials. Its all done open source so anyone that wants to benefit from our R&D and extensive testing is welcome to it. We have helped to develop new and innovative eco materials used in our floors, walls, sinks, tubs, ceilings and roofs. Mikaku and his team are eager to share so be sure to ask for a sustainability tour when you visit Floating Leaf.

Yoga on the Beach

Even with the best yoga hall in Bali, its still nice to get out once in a while. Since we are so close to the coast, we offer sunrise and sunset yoga classes on the beach. Sometimes we visit secret nearby beaches as well.

With its own holy temple and shrine, Pantai Purnama (Full Moon Beach) is our sacred beach. Ceremonies are held here a few times a week with massive processions, sometimes over 2000 people, parading right past Floating Leaf. Its truly a sight to behold with musicians, enormous tiered offerings, larger than life puppets, costumes (Barong and Rangda) and holy relics.

People come from all over to bury themselves in the black volcanic sand as it is said to have curative properties. Local families come at low tide to bathe and play in the tide pools as well. A bonfire at night under the huge full moon is a perfect end to the day.
