The Goddess archetype, in yoga philosophy, is the personification of the creative abundant energy of the world. In this two-week yoga retreat, we will weave together the myths and metaphors of various Goddess images with the practices of yoga to nourish our spirit and deepen our understanding of ourselves. Bali’s beauty, alive with the creative power of the universe, will be the perfect backdrop for our deep dive into the yogic practices and ultimately who we are at our most essential level. Our retreat time will include twice-daily yoga classes with breath-work, story-telling, contemplation and meditation as well as unique-to-Bali experiences like a visit to a water temple and a day trip to Ubud.

RETREAT DETAILS

Yoga offers us practices that invite us to know ourselves at the most essential level, to then ground in this state of being and to live authentically who we truly are. Simply put, we do this by melting away all the layers of tension in the body, mind and breath so our essence can shine forth, like sunlight pouring through a clean glass window. Offering space for this dissolution – the release of all that we carry unnecessarily – and connecting to our innermost self is the focus of this retreat. Being centered in our deepest nature and inhabiting our form from that perspective is the gift this retreat gives and we will the be encouraged to carry that forward as we return to daily life post-retreat.

On this retreat, we will weave together asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breath-work), contemplation and meditation to explore the subtler layers of body, mind and breath. We will use the metaphors and archetypes of the Goddess myths to discern who we are and who we are not. We will be supported in this process by Bali’s natural beauty and we will drink from her wellspring of aliveness to nourish our senses and revive our spirits. Touching into who we truly are, we will delight in the nourishment that connection automatically offers.

It is my intention that we use the retreat opportunity to tune in, to immerse in the richness of yogic practices and to emerge knowing ourselves with greater intimacy and reverence. May this time together access a serene, joyous aliveness that enriches and enhances our lives.
Join me for an amazing two-week Bali yoga adventure.

RETREAT LEADERS

Mona teaches the art of emotional and spiritual evolution through asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath-work) and concentration / meditation. Using the canvas of the body, Mona invites students to move into deeper experiences of embodiment and to drop into the innate ease of being that is present at our core. She integrates bio-mechanical principles, breathing practices and energetic anatomy in service of connecting to the dynamic stillness present within each of us.

Mona has been a student of yoga since 1996 and started teaching soon after that. Throughout her over-twenty years of experience, she has studied within the Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara and modern vinyasa yoga schools. She studies meditation and yoga philosophy with contemporary classical non-dual Tantrik teachers.
