THE GREENEST VILLAGE PROJECT

Preserving Bali’s culture and beauty has been a pillar of our mission at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat. We have a tight bond with Sukawati, our adopted village, and we take our role as a community partner very seriously. It’s important for us to contribute, but we take it one step further by encouraging our staff, guests, friends, and family to participate along with us. That’s why we are happy to present our newest community outreach program, The Greenest Village Project.
Villages throughout Bali are competing to become the cleanest and greenest community on the island. They will be forming recycling centers, cleaning up beaches, parks and public areas and there will be education and public service programs to teach citizens how to become more sustainable within their communities.
Floating Leaf is working closely with Sukawati and our neighboring villages to help them become the most sustainable village in Bali. That’s where you come in. For a donation of any amount, you can become a sponsor of our village. As a sponsor you have the opportunity to not only help keep Bali beautiful, but you can leave your mark in the most positive, sustainable way.
The highlights of The Greenest Village Program include:
  • Placing recycling and waste collection bins throughout the village
  • Providing sustainable and reliable waste management collection and recycling
  • Beach clean up days
  • Educational programs on green practices for all who want to attend
  • Cash rewards per kilogram of trash and recyclables collected to all villagers who participate
  • Implementation of the program to any village that would like to join the competition
  • Awards, prizes and recognition for the winners
For your contribution to the program, we’ll print your name on any of the one hundred and fifty recycling and waste collection bins we’re placing throughout the community. Even if you can only afford a donation of $20, that’s enough to get your name on a bin. For donations of $100 or more, you can sponsor an actual collection area. It may not sound very glamorous having your name on a garbage can, so we’re making that part optional. If you wish to contribute anonymously or wish us not to display your sponsorship on a recycling or waste collection bin, your donations are still very much appreciated. In any case, we hope you participate, as our goal is to have all one hundred and fifty cans throughout Sukawati sponsored by Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat and our wonderful guests.
We’re already working with village leaders to initiate a plan to keep Sukawati clean and green. We’ve officially kicked off the campaign so we encourage you to use the web form on this page to make your contribution as soon as possible. All donations are processed through Pay Pal’s secure payment system and you can donate with a credit card, bankcard or with your Pay Pal account. A Paypal account is not required. Simply click below, enter your card information and know that you are doing a great deal to help the people of Bali.

In upcoming newsletters and blog posts, please look forward to updates and progress reports regarding this initiative. We’ll share with you how your contributions are having a direct impact on Sukawati and the surrounding neighborhoods. Plus, we’ll keep you updated on the results of the competition. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions or would like to participate in any other way.

We hope our newest community outreach program will set an example for all villages in Bali. With your help, Bali will remain the beautiful tropical destination it has always been. We hope you’ll join us.

  • Michael,
I still can remember when you started Bali Floating Leaf and had just started your hotel, yoga studio and primarily your family. Just as in your prior life, you have accomplished a great deal.

For the life of me I truly can’t remember how we connected originally. Through the years I’ve watched you grow Bali Floating Leaf into a very respected endeavor and have successfully chartered issues as they arose.

I definitely have to discover a way to visit your complex and finally meet you in person. If we secure a River cruise on the Mekong then it will be a easy side trip. Otherwise we are going to have to wait until our son and his family are able to get back to Japan.

Either way you have been on my radar for way too long my friend. I sincerely plan on visiting you sometime in the next two years. Until then give your wife and Bodhi a big hug from the old man!
