A guest post by international yoga instructor, Roy Holman.
Yoga has become so popular. What misconceptions are there regarding yoga?
What people often do not realize is that Yoga is a multi-dimensional healing art and science that includes poses, conscious breathing, meditation, and lifestyle choices to bring balance, strength, and flexibility on the physical level, calm and centering on the mental level, healing and integration at the emotional level, and Self-awareness and awakening on the spiritual level. The overall goal and reward is reduced suffering and enhanced health, aliveness, and connection in body, mind, and spirit. So, while we will certainly relax and get some sun and sit on the beach and snorkel, we are also doing some very transformative inner discovery, without sweating too much!
Why is Bali the perfect place for a yoga retreat?
WE LOVED our first trip to Bali in 2014, and really enjoyed the combination of several days on Gili Air for some island life, and then the luxurious Floating Leaf Eco Retreat on Bali. This year we will also include a theme of balancing the yin and yang, or feminine and masculine energies and qualities, which is very important at this time of shift on Earth.
What do your students gain for your Yoga retreats?
As always, people get such a buzz with this style of yoga. It really relaxes and centers people, but also strengthens and balances and improves flexibility. People will be amazed that the spirit of Bali; the people infuse grace, spirit and art into everything they do. Bali is a special place. And the chance to really connect and make new friends is invaluable. Some of us will stay an extra day or two, for the fabulous Balinese Nyepi New Year, “Day of Silence” and parade, very special.
