RETREAT LEADERS

Amanda Percival

Greetings everyone,

Hi there! I’m Amanda, and I’m thrilled to be teaching yoga for over 30 years in the health and wellness sector. I received my training from NZ’s International Yoga Teachers Association in the year 2000. In 2017, I took on the role of coordinator for the IYTA teacher-training course, working alongside other tutors.

My style of teaching is all about gentle and flowing movements, practised mindfully and with a focus on breathing. I’ve taught strong yoga in the past, but now I’m more feeling-based and teach a gentle and restorative style of yoga.

I lead weekly yoga classes that are specifically curated for aging women, where I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual’s unique abilities and limitations.

“I have been organising seasonal yoga retreats for the last five years that focus on yin and restorative practices. These retreats take place in breathtaking locations all over New Zealand. This year, I plan to host a yoga retreat in Bali with my friend and yoga teacher, Sylvie Mclean. Our practices have a slight difference, but they complement each other well.”
I am excited to share my passion and expertise in yoga and wellness with you.

Sylvie McLean

To begin with, I want to extend a warm welcome to you and thank you for your interest in our Bali retreat.

I am Sylvie, a German native, who has lived in New Zealand for most of her adult life. I am fully bilingual. Yoga has been an important part of my life for the past 15+ years.

Between 2012 and 2014, I completed 500+ hours of Yoga Alliance-certified teacher training in Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra. The Krishnamacharya  “Heart of Yoga” school has very much resonated with me and has strongly influenced my teaching. “Stop looking, start living” … “Anyone can do yoga – no matter what shape, age or cultural background” (Krishnamarcharya) My particular joy is to share this yoga during a special event like in example a retreat. This is when our portals are wide open and when we are ready to receive something new and/or different.

I have co-hosted many retreats since 2012 in New Zealand and Bali – some of these with Amanda. Teaching alongside each other has always been a very enjoyable collaboration. During my sessions, you will be experiencing classic gentle Hatha Yoga – complimented with variations of yin poses, breath work, meditations, sound, chanting and/or yoga philosophy.

I look forward to meeting you at Floating Leaf in October 2024.
